Traveling to the Dommel
Waterschap De Dommel will organize Sunday Water Day on the sewage treatment plant in Eindhoven on 21 May. From 11:00 to 17:00, the public can follow the water's journey until it is clean enough for the Dommel River. The purification at the Van Oldenbarnveltlaan cleans sewage from all of Eindhoven and its surroundings. It will be a splendid day with children's water games, personal advice for a climate-friendly garden and a walk with IVN guide along the Dommel.
The journey of the water
The purification at the Van Oldenbarnveltlaan cleans sewage from all of Eindhoven and its surroundings. During a walk around the site, the public sees how about 150 million liters of sewage becomes clean every day. Employees of Waterschap De Dommel explain how the purification works. At the toilet, toilet ladies tell and comic what will happen to what visitors leave behind and give tips to save home water.
Walk along the Dommel
Every quarter of the century, a walk around the Dommel begins to experience the beauty of the Dommel. Experienced nature guides of IVN tell what lives and grows.
Water and climate. What can you do?
Due to climate change, we are faced with increasingly hot showers. Gardens are the perfect place to catch rain and avoid peaks on the sewer. Visitors will receive a personal advice for a climate-friendly garden based on a photo or a map of their own garden. The water boards, gardeners and the municipality of Eindhoven tell the action Steenbreek what's possible.
Fun for kids
Spread over the site, children can do various educational water games. They take a look at life underwater or listen to the story of the rattlesnake. On a stamp card they save stamps for a surprise.
Sunday Water Day is freely accessible and takes place at Van Oldenbarnveltlaan 1 in Eindhoven, between 11:00 and 17:00. For more information, visit www.zondagwaterdag.nl. A fun educational day for young and old!
