Start location:

There are two routes you can embark on from:
- Cranendonck Castle, Cranendonck 1, 6027 RK in Soerendonk.
Surroundings: The municipality of Cranendonck is located in the nature reserve of De Kempen, a relatively small but greatly diverse area of nature: forests, fens and vast heathlands in the south, changing into a bocage landscape with high, slowly swaying poplars in the north. It is a unique landscape where woodland patches alternate with sand drifts, green pastures and picturesque brook valleys.
Nature of the route: The forest and nature areas Hoenderbos, the Pan and Huygten, the Vloeten, the Goor, Cranendoncksbos, de Berg and Buulder and Weerter Beren with its beautiful sand dunes and drifts are complemented in various places with beautiful heathfields.
The start of the Pan-Hugten route is at Cranendonck Castle, and from there it leads to the Laar in the direction of Hugterbos past the Grenskerk Monument to the Pan, and from there returns towards Soerendonk. After tackling some nice tracks near the campsite you return to the starting point.
The Cranendonck route also starts at Cranendonck Castle and takes you in the direction of Gatsel and Buulderberg towards Leenderheide. From there you follow the tracks through the Goor to end up at the forest near the campsite, before also arriving back at the castle.

Pingoruine

A pingoruan is a natural gift from the Ice Age. It's like this:

Pingo's originated in the ice age because groundwater rises and freezes below the surface of the tundra. In addition, the sand layer is pushed upward and lateral and forms a hill called 'pingo' by the eskimo's. Such a pingo can reach a height of 70 meters in special cases. During the ice age, pingo's also formed in the Netherlands. After melting the ice the hill collapsed as it were and a pit with riot edges emerged. In a number of cases, the upward pushed sand forms an increase in the center of the pit. There is then a ring vein.

At the little Hasselsven, such a special pingo can be found. Here you can come, but you will have to walk a bit. It's really a nice experience.
