Pingoruine

A pingoruan is a natural gift from the Ice Age. It's like this:

Pingo's originated in the ice age because groundwater rises and freezes below the surface of the tundra. In addition, the sand layer is pushed upward and lateral and forms a hill called 'pingo' by the eskimo's. Such a pingo can reach a height of 70 meters in special cases. During the ice age, pingo's also formed in the Netherlands. After melting the ice the hill collapsed as it were and a pit with riot edges emerged. In a number of cases, the upward pushed sand forms an increase in the center of the pit. There is then a ring vein.

At the little Hasselsven, such a special pingo can be found. Here you can come, but you will have to walk a bit. It's really a nice experience.
